The qualification contains units which are competence based and several knowledge based units. The qualification is structured in a way which means that all learners will have to complete a group of mandatory units, the content of which is required across any adult care or healthcare support role at level 2. In addition there is a wide range of optional units to support areas of specialism, including:

This qualification consists of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies with optional specialisms which can be are combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners.The content of the mandatory units covers person centered approaches, communication, personal development,equality and inclusion, handling information, duty of care,responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, and, health,safety and well being.

• Understand the need for secure handling of information in care settings
• Understand what is required for competence in own work role
