City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Care

The qualification contains units which are competence based and several knowledge based units. The qualification is structured in a way which means that all learners will have to complete a group of mandatory units, the content of which is required across any adult care or healthcare support role at level 2. PURPOSE AND AIM OF QUALIFICATIONS
The Level 2 Diploma in Care is an occupational qualification for learners who work in Health and Care Settings in England. The qualification is linked to the following Trailblazer Apprenticeships:
Adult Care Worker (mandatory in the standard)
Healthcare Support Worker (optional for on- programme)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry Requirements
City & Guilds does not set entry requirements for these qualifications. However, centers must ensure that candidates have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualifications successfully.
City & Guilds cannot accept any registrations for candidates under 16 as this qualification is not approved for under 16s.
TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME (TQT)
Total Qualification Time (TQT) is the total amount of time, in hours, expected to be spent by a Learner to achieve a qualification. It includes both guided learning hours 311 and hours spent in preparation, study and assessment. the TQT for this course is 460.

PROGRESSION ROUTES
The qualification provides a structured programme of learning and assessment to support learners to demonstrate competence in either an adult care worker or healthcare support worker role.Learners can progress to an apprenticeship or qualification such as the Level 3 Diploma in Care; the Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship; or the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support or the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship, provided they are in a suitable job role.

This qualification consists of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies with optional specialisms which can be are combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners.The content of the mandatory units covers person centered approaches, communication, personal development,equality and inclusion, handling information, duty of care,responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, and, health,safety and well being.
