PURPOSE AND AIM OF QUALIFICATIONS

The City & Guilds Functional Skills Maths Level 1 qualification aims to develop practical mathematical skills needed for daily life and work. This qualification covers essential areas such as whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, basic algebra, measurements, and data handling. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

No age limit.

There are no entry requirements for these qualifications and no formal age restrictions.

TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME (TQT)

The Total Qualification Time for this qualification is 58 hours. Total Qualification Time represents the total time a learner may take to achieve the qualification, including both guided learning and all other learning.

UNITS

To achieve the qualification, the learner must achieve a pass in all of the following three components:

• Using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, fractions, decimals
• Using common measures, shapes and space
• Handling information and data
• Solving mathematical problems and decision making

The qualifications at each level are made up of externally set assessment components
